Thelo-Que’s mixtape provokes thought

Thelo-Que is a local rap artist and member of Rooftop Collective, a Knoxville-based multimedia art collective. After having his track “The Ville” named Knoxville’s best song of 2016 by Knoxville Music Warehouse, Thelo-Que has started off 2017 strong with being featured on the new Hazel single, “Shadow” and the release of his much anticipated new mixtape, Life’s Wonderful Up Here, which dropped on February 28th. You can listen to and download Life’s Wonderful Up Here here.

Life’s Wonderful Up Here is a genre-bending mixtape filled with thought-provoking lyrics and excellent production. Each song has an incredible amount of depth to the instrumentals, and throughout the tape, Thelo shows off his talent as a songwriter and lyricist. “New Blade” and “These Days” are just a few of the highlights, but every song has something that will draw listeners in.

There are several features throughout the tape and each is a welcome contribution; Peezy’s part on “Ride With Me” is a standout verse, while soulful vocals are provided by Dreama, on the tracks “Rooftop” and “The Ville,” and Kiya Lacey, on “New Ting.”  From start to finish, the mixtape never loses momentum and constantly keeps the listener engaged. Each track flows right into the next and by the time the closer “Downtime” comes around, the tape begs to be played again. This mixtape is definitely something you do not want to miss.

You can hear songs from Life’s Wonderful Up Here on WUTK 90.3 The Rock, Volunteer Radio. Be sure to catch Thelo-Que with Hazel at Modern Studio on March 17th.
