PMA: Positive Mental Attitude, a dub reggae band from Sylva, North Carolina, recently played in East Tennessee at Brackins Blues Club, in Maryville, on February 17, 2017.
The show started off with lead singer Phil Thomas giving the audience a cover of Eric Donaldson’s “Cherry oh Baby,” which really hit things off. The band then played some songs off of the album PMA: Positive Mental Attitude, such as “Walkin’ By the Riverside.” PMA also played some tunes from their most recent album, “Through The Spaces,” such as “Picking Tree.”
My personal favorite off of PMA: Positive Mental Attitude is “Music” and “Through the Spaces is Just Takes Time (Feat. Tyler Kittle).” Both songs were played at the show, which highlighted the show for me.

The show continued with more covers, and the one that really blew me away was Bob Dylan’s “I Shall Be Released.”
The show carried on into the wee hours of the morning, and it was really good. The band got the crowd pumped up with interactions through their sets. Seeing PMA live was an excellent show to end the work week and start off the weekend with a positive mental attitude.
If you are looking for a good reggae band to listen to on your way to work in the morning or on a weekend trip, listen to PMA: Positive Mental Attitude. These gentlemen do not disappoint.
Their albums titled PMA: Positive Mental Attitude and Through the Spaces are available on Spotify and iTunes. Also, check them out on social media: @pmamusic.
Their next show is tomorrow at Highland Brewing in Asheville, North Carolina, then they are performing at No Name Sports Bar on February 25, in Sylva, NC.
Much Love, Stay Positive Out There!
